Unknown Device in Dev. manager after reformat

Ok, had to reinstall windows b/c of kids putting games on C drive & they goofed it up so bad system restore wouldn't fix. Back up & running, all drivers loaded (vid, sound, etc.) but I keep getting "Other Devices" - unknown device in the Dev. Manager.

For the life of me, I can't figure out what dev. it is referring to; I uninstall it, reboot, & windows looks for drivers for it, never can find. What is my next step?

Sorry, I feel like such a noob, I should know how to do this by now.

QUICK UPDATE - I just viewed "Devices by connection", & the ? mark is showing up under my video card; It lists my monitor first, then "unknown device" under it.

Ok, I see it is definantly related to the Omega video drivers - I am working at trying to sort it out...

              Problem Solved!

Thanks Chewy, I probably would've stumbled around a few days looking for the problem, you identified it right away!

It might be a good idea to invest in one of those "snapshot"
backup programs. Just to avoid the frustration. You can backup to
an external drive, then put the drive in a lockbox. How "convenient" it is
depends on how you use your PC. I keep most of my drive space free so
backups are usually less than 30 GB. Takes less than an hour to
restore. If you use over 50% of your drive space it could be a tad more tedious.

I have Acronis, used it to upgrade my laptop to a 100 GIG H/D it worked perfectly. Installed the new H/D in an usb drive case and transfered a complete image to the new H/D.

I would do that if I could find a decent one. Years ago I used Norton Ghost & it was okay. I have tried a few since & they were mediocre. Maybe a year ago I purchased Acronis, & I have become thoroughly disgusted with it. I know many sing its' praises, but do a google search on "Acronis Error messages", you'll see what I mean.

That plus the endless upgrades, patches & fixes to the program....

                    Not for me...
I do have a slipstream install CD for one of my pc's, that seems to be the best solution for right now.

I searched around and read a lot of reviews on the web and I tried
Paragon Drive Image Backup Personal edition. Like anything else it
may be that it liked my hardware but so far I'm very pleased with it.
OTOH I try to keep 70%+ of my HD space free, so backups take less than an
hour. If your HD is typically 80%+ full then it's probably not as much fun
                      to use.
