chewy i'm just trying to maximize the use of any new or present software i have. all these proggies have a multitude of functions which can b useful in some manner.

i respect your take on this, my pc isn't running bad or slow right now, and thnx to the power user and free up system memory stickies it's running even better and faster.

this stuff is contagious like you told me before. what can i say. i'm suffering from ocd.

miles i'm lost in regards to this locate 32. what do i do now? i opened it and ran a search of the whole system it came up w/every file imaginable. which ones are able to be deleted?

chewy said think data. there's hundreds of data files. i'm not going to mess my system again by deleting the wrong files. i need some starting point so i could take it from there.

I use duplicate finder 2009 to remove duplicate images from my gallery, it says that it can easy move or delete duplicate files and folder.

Just to follow up, now I'm using Everything search instead of locate32. Everything is NTFS-only and I believe it hooks into the journaling mechanism to be aware of file system changes. This avoids running your HD indexing the whole disk. I used locate32 for years and it's good software, but it ran my HD on something fierce in Vista. Everything is where it's at now for NTFS fixed drive searches.

This one isn't dedicated to dupes. It's a general-purpose search. But it has a dupes feature or option. Plus this programmer makes many very useful freewares. See NirCmd for a small "kitchen sink" does it all utility.

got this problem once

hi fellas, just downloaded easy cleaner. used the duplicate files option which found a whole boat load of duplicate files.

it'll show you 2 files for each entry it found. are these both duplicates to the original file? or do you delete 1 of them? if you delete 1 then which 1 is the 1 that should b deleted? hence which is the duplicate, or the original 4 that matter?

Got that problem once, but you might try this Duplicate Files Deleter . com it finds and remove duplicate files .You will never again choose which to delete.
