Different reviews show PSU wattage requirements to be at LEAST 450 watts (12 V & 30 Amps) another review suggests 550 Watts Minumum...

Better to get a higher one than one that just satisfies minimum requirements. Pages & pages of reviews & info on Google.

      1. can't go on "claimed" wattage when evaluating power supply needs

      2. regardless, that vid card needs a high quality strong power supply

the 8800GT would be a better choice, same performance, less power, less heat, less money

      what cpu?

Figure on a 60-100$ power supply if you shop the deals, do not go on claimed wattage

        It's only money

        Thanks
you've confimed the fact that more power is the way to go.

put in intel core DUO 6420 2.3gz.with "Zerotherm cooler"
Yea. an 8800gt looks like it could make up the price for the power supply.

          450 is never enough nowadays

the PSU IMO is the the single most important piecce in your computer

poor PSU's cause devices to prematurely die, corrupt data, and cause weird anomolies with your system

with good 700 Watters at $100 there is no excuse not to get one

always look for PSU's that meet the 80% PLUS Efficency Rating (the only actual certification for PSUs besides the nVidia SLi Cert which dont mean crap IMO)

          OCZ's Gamestream 700W

another one I have USED before at least 10x and have 2 myself is

Recently I had to upgrade my own PSU from the Apevia as I was pushing the limit of it

I bought a PC Power & Cooling 750 which is really a 850W when you know that PC Power and Cooling are an honest company

12V Amps is are you really need to read as everything is running off of it
doesnt really matter if there are "seperate" rails for the 12V as it all comes off the PSU, and seperate rails can hurt a leg if you are drawing too much power off of leg

          just food fer thought

Alway put the highest wattage psu that you can afford. The high end computers nedd all the power that they can get
