Just started playing Dead Rising after picking it up during the recent Christmas sales (went there to check out Blu-ray/HD DVDs, but all of them cost more than this game, so I thought, why not). It's one of the earlier titles on the 360, but it's an excellent way to waste some time.
Killing zombies, making "special" drink in blenders, shooting down special forces helicopters ... it's got everything. Except for a proper save system and reasonable mission time limits, although it does add to the atmosphere and the sense of urgency.
"Got to get to the second floor of Paradise Plaza so I can get the skateboard. Running out of time, so don't have time to use the stairs - jumping straight down from second floor. Oh no, grabbed by a zombie. No time to grab a healing item. Leaves the plaza for the Leisure Park, now using the skateboard to get to the car park. Grab the red sports card, down the maintenance tunnels that are now occupied by thousands of zombies, running down zombies by the hundreds. I need to get to the maintenance door for North Plaza before the butcher kills someone that might be able to help me. Got there with seconds left on the mission timer. Now to fight the psychopath butcher ..."
Capcom sure knows how to make games, that's for sure. A sequel is in the works, and might be available on the PS3 as well. It's a must have if it's anywhere near as fun as the original (although I hope they allow for more than one save slot this time).
