Got a mac laptop but my external hard drive is not formatted for it so I cant convert my mp3's to load on it. Any help is appreciated! Anyway to download software needed to convert?

which way is your external drive connected to with your macbook and which other places do you intend to connect the external drive to?
mac os uses a different file allocation system compared to windows
in other words: mac can READ from fat or ntfs systems but can only write to fat not ntfs drives
if you only use the drive with your mac, then of course mac's own system hfs will be the best choice
