    Top 5 or 10 motherboards.

    Chewy,

This would be for AMD CPU chips. Who do you think would be in the top 5 or 10 motherboard manufactures?

We had a debate at work going on. I said that Asus was number 1 and Gigabyte number 2 and followed by MSI. A coworker was complaining that Asus was junk he had a high failure rate. My question to him was was size power supply was used and the brand. It was a 300 watt Ultra. He has 4 optical drives and 4 hard drives. I told him to send some money on a better and bigger power supply. The pci express video card also had the power connection for the extra power. Go cheap on the power supply you get cheap.

I have had great luck with all my Asus boards. Pretty much all I buy. You hit the nail on the head about the PSU, but wattage isnt everything to concider when you buy. Check the 12v rail Amps. Amperage is like the backbone for all PSU's. You can have a 1000w PSU pushing 24amps, and get problems, especially where power consumption from graph cards is concerned. These days I recommend(not that my 2 cents counts but...)at least an 850w PSU with 12v rails pushing upwards of 30amps. Same goes for 5v, and 3v....make sure its up there so everything gets fed like it should under a load.
