    seeking info about lightscribe

Hi i know little about lightscribe that it is used to burn label on discs with laser.but i want to know more about it.
is it media dependent, burner dependent or media and burner combined?

which software to use to write lightscribe labels?

    thanks

The required burning software should come bundled with the lightscribe burner. I must say, I am not a fan of lightscribe...

      Pros -
      More permanant label than inkjet

      Cons -
Takes too long to create a label
      Media too expensive
Extra stress on the burners' laser
I prefer more than a 2 color finish

My only recommendation is disable the lightscribe service. It's enabled by default and looks for lightscribe enabled media, even though I never put one in the drive. No point in that!!

I agree that Light Scribe is not the best way to labels discs. It is slow and very limiting in its use of only 2 colors. I must respectfully disagree with katzdvd's assertion that LS is more permanent than ink jet disc labels. I have heard stories of LightScribe labels fading over time to the point that the light areas of the label are almost gone. It may be a real problem or it may just be isolated events. I personally like using ink jet printers that use printable discs for labels. The printer I like best is the DiscPainter by Dymo. It prints in color and even prints text that can be easily read (not always the case with LS). It is faster and offers more color options than the Light Scribe.
