xp service pack 2

Installed xp service pack 2 the other day and it messed up the color & resolution on my lcd flat screen monitor. Went to monitor properties to adjust color & resolution, but was unable to adjust. Apparently for whatever reason, xp service pack 2 froze these adjustments. Had to uninstall xp service pack 2 in order to adjust color & resolution. Any help greatly appreciated.
