    Barebones Problem

I just put together my new barebones kit, actually all I had to do was insert the drives, tried to boot it up and no power, checked the cable and wall power all good. Am I missing a step somewhere?

did you set the jumpers on the drives correctly?

there was a lot more than install drives on the last barebones I built

    memory/ram?

Agreed! Did they connect the wires from the power switch, power supply, etc. to the mainboard? Look for all the obvious things first before digging deeper. For that matter, is there even a cpu in it? Did it come with a manual? There may also be a jumper on the mainbord that might not be set in the correct position for the cpu being used.

      It happened to me once...

I am fairly new at this but have a basic background in electornic's, the board came completled except for the drives, others who have used this have confirmed that they had only to hook up the drives and drivers. Do I have a defective PS, if so whats the best way to ascertain?
        PS Thanks

Chewy, I set one at master one at slave, why would that affect the power supply?

Here's an easier link. Looks to me like it has all the necessary parts included. Now's where the sleuthing begins, as far as if it is getting power, the connections are correct, etc.

Here's something to look at; on the back of the power supply, is there a switch that might be in the "off" position? An easy one to overlook...

just disconnect the drives that you inserted, pata/sata cables and power connections and test, if it doesn't boot and you are sure you didn't loosen a power connection to the motherboard

                  call tigerdirect

                  thanks katz
