    64 Bit Os Help

I have a fairly new hp pavillion (M7580N) desktop with an AMd Athlon 64 X2 2.2gh processor. Will this computer support a vista or xp in 64 bit? Does the vista 64 bit version ONLY allow you to install software thats been CERTIFIED or not? I was looking into buying or building a new computer in the near future on thatll run a 64 bit os. But im undecided between a mac or a pc. I hear the macs are more stable but pricey. If i go pc should i custom build or buy some preconfigured desktop or server or workstation. like o use no recode and Vision a lot. Want a system thatll speed them up. Cut the time from 1h30min to half of that at most or better? any suggestions? thanks

64 bit OS won't speed you up and vista will dramtically slow you down

that lame ram is probably not helping, make sure both cores are doing the work

since all the applications are 32 bit there's no benefit from a 64 bit OS? Unless you need a full 4 gigs of ram or more

Last question! Are there other 64 bit programs capable of the same functions as vision and recode for pc or mac with 64 bit os ?
