Regular tweaks like primary/secondary...burners...etc..? Also I don't want to make the same mistake and put my name in my documents so I guess it asks at some point what you want to call your pc? I know in my dell it has my full name in My documents and my 1st name in local, temp. A tip here is needed as the only way to change it later is a clean install. Thnx.

standard tweaks in bios are just turing off stuff you don't or won't use

parrallel printer, old style serial(not sata) etc

manually setting mem voltage and cas settings if needed/this part may have to be retweaked after loading the OS so you can see what cas levels are being used

Chewy everything looked ok except I put it to boot to the burner and the sob won't acknowledge the os disc. Keeps telling me failure to boot put disc in and press enter. I did nothing. I even tried putting everything back to default and the darn thing won't change and keeps going back to the boot setting. I see the lights on my burners. The bios picks up 1 primary master but I'm thinking it must be acknowledging both drives since their hooked up to the same cable. The hds are acknowledged under the sata settings. Whenever I made the change to default it asked me if I wanted to exit w/out saving. whether yes or no it won't go back to the original default. manual says put os in 1st. I tried won't read it. I tried the driver cd and it won't read that either. Am i Going to have to clear the rtc ram in coms and start all over?

          Check out the stats:

          CPU Q fan control [disabled]
          CPU Q-fan profile [performance]
          Vcore voltage [1.33v]
          3.3v voltage[3.43v]
          5v voltage [5.16v]
          12v voltage [12.17]

          CPU temp 46 degrees C
          M/B temp 38 degrees C

          CPU fan speed 2657 rpm

Temps went down after I put ac on. preety humid and a lil hot here in n.y.

Help me get the xp disc in so I could get this baby running. Awesome machine so far. Thnx.

now this is the disk that you made and test booted right?

check bios for what mode the drive is in?
            sata controller?

you didn't even say what burner it was?

Yes it's the same disc. made 3 copies. it booted in the dell. I put it in both my lg and samsung burner. I'm pretty sure the bios said it was primary ide master. It won't say the name of the drives I guess cause the os isn't in but it acknowledges 2 w/e it calls them.

try it in a differnet drive or disconnact all the others

are these pata or sata drives?

what controller are they hooked to?

is there an F boot command?
                that usually identifies drives

Their both pata drives hooked up to the ide cable w/master/slave split. I'll check the controller. I'll also check if there's an f boot command. This is totally different screen. Says Asus w/command prompts on bottom. Also page is larger than my monitor. I only have 2 burners hooked up. I'll take 1 off. leave it as master. Give me a last tip if you'd like b4 I switch over cause I'm using all the peripherals from my dell. thnx.

It's done Chewy. We did it. Think it was that the chassis fan was connected to the 4 pin peripheral power cable that the samsung was on also. Windows is in. Now I guess I'll try the cd w/the drivers for the asus mobo and if anything missing go to their site? Have to configure it to my isp also. Some minor tweaks here n there in bios and I have a copy of all my burning apps. so that'll go right in. I'll also turn it into a power user. I wrote down all the services that I have turned off in my dell. Is there an xtra fee for using your isp w/another pc? Anyhow It's all gravy from here on. I partitioned the 250 into 50gb and 200gb. windows in 50. Also took care of my name thingy.

Do you really have to register windows online? I held off to make sure. Thnx. On the .

Do you really have to register windows online
no, but you'd better activate, then do the validation, with sp3 you shouldn't need much of anything else for a while

                        IE7 if you want it

MP10 seems to load some decent codecs?

don't sweat messing up a driver load, the second or third time usually works best

                        We did it.
                        No, you did it

I got the M2N-E. I downloaded some chipset from asus for 64bit xp but when I ran it it said 64 wasn't supported. The mobo supports 64 bit as does the AMD Athlon 64 x2 Black edition. Tech at verizon now says I need to download usb drivers? I also downloaded but didn't transfer to cd or install a Ris.zip folder from asus. Don't know if that's needed?

NO 64 bit drivers, none, no nada!

tell the tech from verizon to talk to his supervisor or look for other work

never use a usb driver unless absolutely needed with xpsp2 or above
