    DVD-RW Erasing Issue

Was just wonder i have a DVD-RW here only used it a few time 10 max but now when i try to erase the disk it just acts as if its a DVD-R. I've tried several programs to erase the disk all with the same result!

Is this disk fried or has anyone else had problems like this?

Yeah, this has happened to me as well. Discs used a handful of times, won't erase anymore. RWs are supposed to be rewritable up to 1,000 times, but we can assume that heavy usage shortens that already over inflated estimate by two-thirds?

hmmmmmm I've only used DVD+RW for erasables and I haven't had one refuse to record over. Playing on my stand-alone is another issue. Have you tried format with Imgburn?

DVD-RW may be a different beast?

edit: ok it just clicked what you meant. Using like an erasable floppy data disc?
It's been so long since I've done that I forgot about it. InCD and like stuff always
had more negatives than positives on my machines. So I just write to the erasables
      in disc at once mode.

The least amount of dust or a scuff and they seem to be history

I always do a complete erase with imgburn when they are new and then just write and rewrite after that

If I start to get an error sometimes another complete erase will help, most times not

Doing a complete erase after every burn would probably wear the disks out twice as fast

here what u can do worked fr me every time... use second dvdrw drive to erase completely not quick. now thats easy part, finding a dvdrw that will accept that dvdrw disk is harder...
i use 3 different drives, dell laptops works on most.
Seems like as soon you buy somehing, v. 2 comes out 1.5 times as fast!..!

            Hi

I've tried using imgburn to do a full erase same results treats it like a DVD-R. Although on the R/H side where it displays the disc info it recognised it as a DVD-RW.

A few other programs i have tried are infa recorder, nero and i lost count of downloaded programs i've tried. Also tried in my other drive on my laptop same thing. Think this disc is heading for the big fluffy clouds in the sky!
