DVD Home Movies Looking Like VHS

I'm in the middle of editing some home movie footage that I filmed from my HDD camcorder. When I play it back in my DVD machines, the picture quality looks like VHS. Why is this happening? Some how the DVD quality is gone.

    Many thanks.

I'm not sure how to find that out. The software that I'm using is CyberLink PowerCinema NE for Everio.

Something else strange happened that I noticed with the same footage. I filmed the whole lot with a tripod but I used six different camera angles. After I cut the footage together, I was pleased the was it came out with the cuts because I did it professional-looking the way footage is cut together for films and TV. Apart from it looking like VHS quality that was annoying, I noticed two camera angles had strange movement in the background as if it was hand-held. One camera angle had the kitchen floor in the background and the tiles appear to rock side to side and up and down and another camera angle had the fridge in the background and that was rocking from side to side and up and down. I don't understand why that was happening because as we all know, the whole point of using a tripod is to get a steady shot but mine looked hand-held. I haven't noticed that in any other shots from the tripod being used. I don't know if you've known about this background thing. It was rather like an illusion.

      Many thanks.

what u mean? doesnt ur camera has tv out of any kind ? use that output like svideo, composite AV out....etc

got it somthing like "a green screen backdrop" of pinnacle's. u sure it wasnt doing because it was meant to do that effect. try again with small footage.
also bacause iv never used it so may there is a limitation or quality problem in using that effect.

encode same footage again without doing any editing or effects and see if it still comes out as vhs quality.
