Blocked from a web site?

this is what I get when I try to access a certain web site.
I have Verizon DSL and use AOL and Internet Exporer.
I do not get restricted from any other site on the web.
Of course, many sites require a user to register or use a user ID and password but not talking about those.
On this particular site I have a registered user name and password same as DVF here.
I can got to the site, read posts and discussions but when I try to post or reply or try to enter the home movie section I get, Users from your internet service provider are temporarily not permitted to participate on this board...
I have been a registered user on this board for 3 yrs and the board moderators WILL NOT answer any emails or questions concerning ISP blocks..
I still have a valid username and password on the web site so I'm not banned...
I can't see how an Internet Providere can be blocking me from 1 and ONLY 1 web site.
Something is wrong somewhere and I don't think the problem is with the ISP.
I have been on some raunchy web sites and can access if I want at any time...
anyone have any clues or has this happened to anyone here?

Sounds like it's the board that's blocking your IP address range, not Verizon that is blocking that website. The board probably blocked it temporarily due to spam or something, perhaps someone within your same IP address range.

Probably best to contact the owners of the board to see what's happened.

Is there a way to change your IP address??

It's something only your ISP can change, and then depending on how they've set up their network, possibly only change to another IP address in the same range (which may be blocked too).

I did notify webmaster...
they don't have me banned or blocked.
they seem to think the problem is on my end...
I have even cleared all cookies pertaining to the site.
I can view posts but anything else doesn't work.
even if I try to re-register as a new member,
I keep getting

Do you have a screenshot of this error message? Just want to see if it's a forum/board based error, or something else.

I am able to use the web site from my son's Pc..
Comcast cable..

Iwent on the site and chose to change my password.
They let me change it, then sent a new password activation key to my email.

From his pc, I opened my mail, went to the site, copy/pasted the activation code and my password was changed..
I was able to do anything on the web site.

came home, went on my pc, opened up the same mail,
tried to paste in the same activation code and the blocked screen came up not letting me into the "activation screen..
I have no special firewall or virus programs or parental controls on my rig..

I even went into internet settings and deleted any cookies from this site..
[don't know if that was a good or bad thing to do but I know on my son's PC he has never been on this certain web site so his pc had no cookies pertaining to it and I had no problems navigating the site,,

Yep, that's definitely a board/forum level block. There's nothing you can do about it because your IP address is in the range that is being blocked by the forum. I think you need to send the forum mods that screenshot and ask what's going on (it may even be a board software level block that they are not even aware of).

I went around and around with Comcast, not being able to download updates from Microsoft. I informed the un-tech people, that I was able to download Microsoft updates from work. But I was not able to download when connected to Comcast. I also informed them that when using open dns servers I was able to download Microsoft updates. Which indicated the that modem was not allowing the DNS servers to be used. It took me over 6 Months to get the problem resolved. The moral of the story is Comcast has no clue what so ever.

I sent them the block screen but of course they created it.
They specify that they do not answer questions about IP blocks.

You might have to use a proxy server or something that will mask your IP address (but many forums block proxies too). You might still want to contact your ISP, because I've been contacted by ISPs in the past with their customer's complaints about not being able to reach this forum (due to an incorrect IP block).

You have a problem that is becoming more common place; a discharged lan card.
Unplug your computer, open it, and take one of those clip-on trouble lights (like you'd use to work on a car) with no higher than a 100 watt bulb, and clip the light on the chassis so that it shines on the lan card. Let it shine on it for 2 hours, and then try again. You may have to remove the card to do this.

verizon lawyers send legal notice to website/forum, website can't discuss ip blocks because of pending litigation

verizon avoids negative publicity and possible counter litigation

surely the legal system wouldn't be that screwed up

? I don't get it - what are you trying to do, dry the card out? How does this "recharge" the LAN card? Or is this a joke that is just over my head?!?
