nice mobo you got, mill
had that board in use for quite some time as well until lightning struck the house and ruined a couple pcs and other stuff.
please keep in mind that you will have to go for DDR (1) not DDR 2 RAM and make sure to buy TWO ram modules for the dual-channel mode
the numbers you quoted in brackets is the so called CL or latency timing
try to get another two ddr3200 modules
most of these should be fine: CLICK ME -
Thanks for the reply UncasMS, Sorry to here about the lighting, thats not good. Thats the same MB you and Chewy help me with updateing the chipset drivers,I was hoping to hear from you, i remembered you said you having one. Thanks again.
Did you replace it with another?
Memory sure got cheaper,since i bought the first 2 sticks.I paided 153.00.Last edited by mill; 11 Nov 2008, 06:42 AM.Keep Plugin awayComment

i did not replace the mobo but build a new system from scratch and gave the rest of my former system (apart from mobo no harm was done to this pc) to my brother
i did not want to go for another socket 939 mainboard and decided to buy an am2 socket with ddr2 ram because there were hardly any decent dualcore cpus available and my a8n had an 3000+ single core working on it
so i said now is the best time to switch to dualcore and new socket *g*Comment

I run the A8N-SLI Premium with matched Corsair CMX-512 PC3200 in 2-3-3-6 (just 1 Gb but have no plans to downgrade to Vista - ever! ) It's pretty good memory, but I'm sure there's better for this board now given it's 3 years since I bought the PC.
You need to play around in the BIOS to adjust the memory timings since the SPD memory timings are 3-3-3-8 (I did this in connection with OC'ing my PC by 25% on the AMD 3800X2).

Hey there Blu, just like the good old times.I was not aware that the timing shows up in the bios,i will have to check mine to see were its set at after i figure how and were to look in the bios..Im guessing it set on auto, since i did not oc, unless Monarch did when they built it.Thanks for the schooling.
If im correct, I understand the lower the first number is the faster the memory. But what im not sure of is why is there 2 sets of 4 numbers (2-2-2-5-3-4-4-8)? Is that the tolerance i can run tham at?
And if 512 is good enough for You Chewy and 1gig is good enough for you Blu maybe i should be happy with what i have,im sure i dont work my pc more then both of you.Hell most of the time all i do is just hit the start button, lol.

Hi again mill
Quite frankly, the memory timings are just the tinyiest of tweaks. To get more out of your machine, overclocking will trump faster memory timing every time.
