I just put Visual Studio 2008 C# Express Edition on my Vista machine today.
Last time I tried it was a nightmare. This time it went smoothly, if you don't count the 2 boots where it says some stuff about processing updates for about 10 minutes that is!! Looks like they did fix some stuff. I installed a couple of ActiveX Controls into the Toolbox without any hassle.

edit: btw for those who prefer XP, it goes right on XP Pro SP 2 with no fuss. One normal boot after installation and it's good to go.
