    Router out! Looking for recommendations

    Hi All,

We both of my Linksys WRT54G's are out of commission regardless of firmware etc.

So I am looking at a new one.

It is hard to find the really good ones because you will get 2 reviews really great and 2 the worst router on the planet.

I know most everyone here is very computer literate and knows the best I can get in addition to value.

Can you please share your suggestions??

    Thank You so much

I have been using Netgear, very pleased with the durability. They are also easy to setup. Their draft n rangemax routers have multiply internal antennas for better mimo configuration.

Thanks guys. My brother will be doing joint purchasing with me.

            They both seem pretty comparable.

I am not seeing pro's or con's either way.

Maybe hit Bestbuy tomorrow as they have both.

Maybe the reason why I have not had any problems is, I have my router and DSL modem
              connected to a UPS.

I had that model but upgraded to the draft-n version. I also have the draft-n pc card for my laptop. Web pages load a lot faster.

I talked it over with my brother. Seems he likes the Netgear because it is NOT Linksys.

Thanks for the input atifsh. Your knowledge is invaluable.

Looks like it will be the N Box. Will get it tomorrow at bestbuy for $89.95.

                    Saves time and shipping.

Thanks all. I will let you know how well it works out.

It is worth it for the saving of time and not having to wait. I suggest the one above for future upgrade potential. It will allow speeds up to 300mps.

well for one wrt160n is dd-wrt compatible, im not sure bout other i will check and update.
whats dd-wrt? if u ask, it will change firmware software to something more robust and gives functions that really really expensive routers have.

one of the options i use are
1: range booster, extend the range
2: can do wireless repeater for further range, u need 2 routers for that, whatever the make, but one should be on ddwrt.

                              OMG,

Just went to the site and boy am I over my head on this one.

It seems it would be easiest to update my WRT54G ver 2.0 to this, but there are so many files. This will take a while to soak in. I will not give up. Look's intriguing.

I also found a how to video on you tube, but that is even a little fast paced(like rocket science) for me.

My Brother will get the Netgear and I will work on this and we will both be happy at this point.

If I like dd-wrt I will get a router that supports it.

You all are super. Thank You
