If you have Vista Home Premium or lower MS doesn't give access to restore of individual files via Shadow Copy. On the Vistax64 site there's a list of free Vista software and I noticed Shadow Explorer
I just installed it and tried it out on both 32 and 64 bit home premium. Seems to work ok. The GUI is a lot like an undelete program except you look through the shadow copies in storage and select files or folders for export.
If you don't see anything listed when you use the program open your services and make sure Volume Shadow Copy service is enabled.
