Folder Cache and Re-open - open your used folders and files quickly

I've done a few of these programs that save recent folders opened by Explorer so you could reopen them. This is the simplest implementation yet!
No options, .ini files, registry, nothing. Just an .exe file. You can make a shortcut in the Startup folder to have it start with windows. Here's a link to a description:

ReOpen. They both use the same hotkey. Unless there's a bug I don't know about yet, ReOpen should be superior.

It's just Folder Cache with another list and a few more lines of code to get the path of program windows. If you see it sucking up CPU cycles or doing anything weird please let me know.

I have them both running and Shift-PgUp opens FolderCache. Not to worry.

Does the 24 mean 24 folders and 24 progs or 24 in total?

Are you running XP? I'm not getting that on my machines(Vista & W7.) I'm getting about 1% CPU for ReOpen with nothing much else going on. The wmi is used to get the program path. I'll have to take a look and see how it polls it.

Edit: Ok, I see it. Try v. 1.02. On Vista64 the WMI shows at 1 or 2% now and ReOpen 2% or less. On W7 I don't even see WMI in Task Manager and ReOpen shows at 1% or less.

Edit2: v. 1.1 I worked it a bit more. Now on Vista64 most of the time idle shows 99% and on W7 ReOpen almost never even pops up at the top of Task Manager CPU usage display. Way more CPU friendly. Also it runs the WMI to get the active window process path much less often during polling.

Looks like ReOpen is stable. Latest upload changes the lower bound of the Spin Button to 10. The only other change is if the Readme file is found in the ReOpen source folder, you can open it from the Tray Icon Menu in the default text app. Just saves hunting for it.

I updated both Folder Cache and ReOpen to use real double-click message handling for the lists. The double-click should be smoother now. Also added a button so you could delete selected entries, in both apps.

Please update to Folder Cache 1.91 and ReOpen 1.31

On both programs I fixed the hotkey interfering with keyboard item selection. Shift-PgUp was still enabled so it blocked the normal function of selecting from the current item to the top of the list window. On both programs now you can empty a list by highlighting the first item, pressing Shift-End and then Alt-D. Or you can select by dragging the mouse but the keyboard is faster if there's a lot of scroll.

You're welcome. I also added a command to the Tray Icon Menu for both programs so that you can change the hotkey using a dialog with combo boxes. The About command shows the current hotkey and also the set hotkey has the current hotkey modifier and main key as the defaults in the combo boxes. Not all of the combinations will be free for use. As example you could set Control Esc but hitting it would still open the Windows Start Menu. But there should be sufficient choices that you can work around hotkey conflicts with other programs.

The current hotkey and the max folder settings are now saved to an .ini file in the same folder as the .exe in both apps. When you change the hotkey the next time it should use the new one automatically. If you forget the hotkey just use the About command in the Tray Icon Menu to display it.

Frankly, if you use Re-open, there's no need for FolderCache, as its features are a subset of Re-open. I'd focus on Re-open only.
