    Problems updating Ad-aware 2008

Is anybody else having problems updating ad-aware 2008?

I have tried repeatedly this morning and it will not update. Not so sure I want to go to the AE version

I tried anniversary and took it off. I think AE is becoming irrelevant, at least for me. All I ever get from it is 2 hits on MRU lists. I'm having good luck with Malware bytes.

Are you running 32 bit or 64 bit OS?

      problems Ad-aware 2008

I went to the Ad-aware forums and saw where they have discontinued updates for the SE versions. But I am not sure whether the 2008 version is included in the SE or not. No mention of the 2008 version.

When I try to update the 2008 it goes to the update screen and then just sits there indefinitely and does nothing at all.

After reading your first post I uninstalled so I can't try it. I seem to have better luck setting Firefox and Opera to delete cookies on close. Now and then I use CCleaner to clean out any that didn't get deleted. Also I use the BetterPrivacy Firefox addon to delete flash cookies.

To avoid having to manually log in I use Secure Login for FireFox and the Wand in Opera.

I tried the anniversary edition and I wouldn't waste the time to install it. Also if you are running 32 bit Sandboxie and/or something like Returnil is probably better.

          Hi Snagel,

What are you using Ad-Aware for? If you tell me what your Goal is I can suggest some good Freeware to you.

I guess I am using it for removing adware, malware, etc. Didn't know it did anything else. Lately didn't know it did anything at all.

It seemed to do something back in version SE but since 2008 I am not sure it is any good at all.
