WMV to AVI on Vista64 SP1?

Looking for fast free converters from WMV to AVI on Vista64 SP1. I tried VirutalDub 1.88 with WMV plugin. It loads but tells me the codec is missing. Stuff like QuEnc will work for WMV to DVD but it's wicked slow, like 32 fps.

I even found the old Stoik video converter 1.1 but that craps out pronto.
Any time I try AviDemux 2.4 it chokes on WMV.

edit: AviDemux 2.4 seems to work ok after installing Shark's latest Vista Codec Pack.
