That is why I ask if it was a CRT, I has seen tubes that needed even more adj then dazuk1972's LCD monitor needs.

What I am seeing is that the pictures are bowed at the top and bottom of the pictures.
This may not be the "real" picture of the monitor. It may be the result of the common "barrel distortion" seen in photographs taken with a wide angle lens.
Here I have somewhat corrected the distortion in his 4th picture:Click image for larger version

Many thanks everyone that helped me with this. After reading further posts I managed to get the wide screen going. I can't believe I almost got it done days ago but I never clicked on one thing that I did this time. When I went into Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver, I changed the Screen Resolution to 1440x900 and I selected Maintain Acpect Ratio and clicked on OK in a message that popped-up as I did many times before but the screen was always squashed. This time after that, I also clicked on Advanced Settings and the screen stretched out to wide screen without me having to change anything in Advanced Settings.

I tested a DVD for a minute and they show correct and photos show correct as well.

        Many thanks again to everyone.

Glad you got it sorted. A widescreen display takes some time to get used to, but once you do, the advantages are numerous. The increased desktop space, ability to view two pages at once in Word, plus gaming and video playback and everything.

that's something else that I love, more room for Desktop shortcuts or the same ammount needed doesn't use so much of the screen.

I'm pleased it has an Auto mode for games on the small screen because some wide screen Laptops are not fitted with an Auto mode unless there's a setting in the Laptop. When a game that was made in the small screen like Chainz and Chainz 2, the look of the games are stretched but my monitor goes on the Auto mode and puts the monitor on the small screen so that the game look correct and when I quit the game the monitor puts itself back in wide screen.

My friend has 2 22" wide screens on his computer. He uses both screens when he is playing world of warcraft.
