Can't get wireless internet to connect...sort of...

    Using a Linksys Wireless - G 2.4 card. WMP54G Vers. 4.1.
I have the correct drivers installed, there are two small pc screens in the notification area, one is blinking. It shows 54.0 Mbps & excellent signal strength.

However, I have no connection. When I click on the status, it says "connected", & sent packets 319/received 0.

What do I need to do to make this thing work? Noob explanation please, as I know very little about networking, wireless or otherwise. This kind of thing always ends up in a major hassle for me, no matter how much I read on the subject.

I am using a Dlink router - WBR 1310. I have used a laptop wireless connection with this router in the past. Everything "auto-detected" & worked on its' own with that.

    Suggestions? - Thanks!

Open up a command prompt and type in ipconfig/all and you should get the router info.

My friend is having the same issue. Did you try and see that you were connected while any drivers used were being installed? If at some point you were off the net this might of caused the issue.
      SAMSUNG SH-S203B, SAMSUNG SH-S223F,

Take the suggestions and follow the directions. The results will speak for themselves.

      Google is definitely our friend.

Ok the problem is that you are not connected to your ISP. The reason why that you do get a connected message is, that yes you are connected, but only to your wireless router, and not to the internet.

            could this be the case:

            1)
you are connected to your router
            (ping it to be sure)

            2)
you MAY be connected to your isp BUT dns does not work
ping a known and valid url like www.google.com - if the ping fails try to resolve any real google.com IP (via a working internet connection) and again do a ping but this time not the name www.google.com but the real ip instead

if this works then your domain name serving is not set correctly

normally you should set the router/gateway ip as first dns server

I have DSL and when the modem is not set for pppoe. I will get a connected status but that is only to the wireless router and not the internet. But if I set up the pppoe with my email address and password then I will connect to the internet.
