    Dvd drive

    My son kept opening and closing my dvd drive and now it wont recognize any black or burned dvd or even genuine game dvd

    Hi Skip,

    Welcome to the Forum ...

    Go to your "Device Manager" and find the DVD/CD line and see if there is any "Exclamation" Sign ... if so, click on it and see what it says ... and go from there!

    BTW, what is your DVD Player model!?!? Is it in a desktop or a laptop?

      No exclamation points and th drives are top one in my tower is atap ihap422 8,and the second one hl-dt-st-dvd-rom gdr8163b

        desktop model gateway 507 gr serial cag 53 610 08757 i replaced the dvd burner from the orginal the dvd rom is the same

          i think i fixed it i forgot to say my son fell on top of the trays when they were in the out position and i think he might have threw them off track because when i took the tray faceplate off ( the thing that says dvd , light scribe etc.. ) it started to read disc i think it might not of been closing properly, gonwk thank u for ur suggestions though

            Glad to see that you fixed the problem. Actually it was a good thing that you did NOT mention that your son had fallen onto the DVD tray ... otherwise at that time my suggestion would have been a 24Oz Ball peen Hammer.
