I was looking on newegg and to buy a version of windows 7 for myself and theres so many different ones. Windows 7 Pro full retail for 274.00 ,would that be 64 or 32 bit?

I think that it would be both. I got the pro upgrade and it included both versions.

All versions will normally include TWO dvds (32/64bit) unless you buy a SystemBuilder/OEM version where you will have to make a choice: 32 or 64bit

a home premium will be more than fine for most users and will be much more inexpensive

Home Premium should be fine for 90% of people, while Ultimate is for the other 10% that needs HDD/USB encryption, XP mode, Virtual HD booting, and the other business functions most people won't need. Pro is best avoided since it's only a tiny bit cheaper than Ultimate, but lacks what are probably the most useful features Ultimate has over Home Premium.

Only reason I'm running the Ultimate version is for the feature to be able to change language. Wish that was a feature in the cheaper versions also.
