    Sony Vegas Pro 8.0

Does anyone know why Sony Vegas Pro 8.0 doesn't support MPEG2 files? Is there a setting where I can change something. It excepts other video files.

    Many thanks.

According to this page, version 9 does support MPEG2 as both input and output formats. Probably version 8 does too.

I have used the "studio" version of this product for several years. It definitely does support MPEG2.

If you have a "mpg" file that will not import, it may have been misnamed or encoded with some incompatible codec that you do not have (iv41 in Widows VISTA or Windows 7 for example). The Gspot utility may be helpful to sort this out.

          Mine is version 8.0.
I think version 8 also supports MPEG2 as input format. Otherwise they would have mentioned the MPEG2 input support as a NEW feature in version 9. And it seems very illogical that a pretty popular editing software will not support a common format like MPEG2.What exactly are you trying to import ?

Both V8, and V9 fully support MPEG2 (I have used both - Studio versions). The Platinum versions also support MPEG4 and H-264.
