WD Network Dr & Ipad, sony Bravia TV

yes as the title suggests im having a headache of a time will all the listed!

firstly, im trying to view content from a WD 'My Book' Network Drive, this is working fine, using plug player the Mp3's/Pictures show up great on TV and Iphone/Ipad
The only problem is the Videos dont! ive tried lots of formats, i put the Divx register file on usb to enable Divx playback on the TV, that went well.
I then converted a small file to MPEG4 which worked on the tv from usb. I then tried a Divx file/avi they didnt work!

Currently i have a MKV and AVi file on the Network drive, the files show up on iPad but dont playback, the folders show up on the TV but says there is no files!!!

baffled to say the least, im no guru but can usually work things out, in the case i beg for your help lol

So here is an update incase anyone else ends upninna similar situation

The Sony bravia kdl40ex403u plays mpeg2 over dlna
This means I'm now able to use the network drive for watching films but have to convert each one

The iPad I think was playing mpeg2 but just as I come to type this it's now not loading the videos in plug player, I might actually be losing my marbles though so need to have a think if I'd modified anything.

Any input?
