    Norton Go Back

Does anyone know why Symantec never released anymore editions of Norton Go Back? The latest one was Norton Go Back 4.0 and I think that came out in 2004. They bring out more editions of other things apart from Norton Go Back.

    Many thanks.

March 2009: As per Symantec, Norton GoBack has been replaced by Norton Ghost 14 (Norton Ghost however is missing some functions that Norton Goback had).

There are a bunch of "roll back" type softwares out there. Unfortunately they aren't much protection against vicious malware that can hose your booting process. If it depends on booting with data from a special partition or hidden files it's not as robust as image backup. But it may be good for people who like to test software and don't care for virtual machine alternatives.

they are not releasing any updates since the software was too crappy and people complaint too much about it. there are a lot of alternatives out there and you should try one.

Ghost is an disk image tool and not a restore utility and you should use in the same time with a system restore tool like Rollback Rx.

The problem with System Restore is it can corrupt very easily. Can you think of any other software that reverses a PC to an earlier date or time? Thanks.
