A video player that can scroll timeline ???

I am looking for a video player like WMP that you can scroll back and forth on the timeline of AVCHD or MPEG 4 files. When I try this with Windows media player it most of the time crashes! I know of course I can load it into a video editor program and do this, but I am just looking for a player to click open and search video files for content. Thanks!

Try the VLC Player. It's a very flexible media player and it's free. It can play almost any media format.
