My original laptop battery died and I need a new one

I can only find an HP 6cell, but I want one with more capacity. I can only find after market high DELL Vostro V130 battery . Is there a possibility that a battery other than the original brand could hurt my laptop?

Yes!! Do not use any other battery than the officially supported one because it might explode for real.

Are you serious?! I've been using batteries that did not some from the manufacturer and they've been fine..but I am really worried now.

Are they actually that bad?
