I'm not sure where to post this exactly, but I use DVDShrink to rip my DVDs because it allows me to rip just the movie uncompressed without all of the extraneous audio and subtitles which just takes up more storage, however DVDShrink only saves to .iso properly if I rip to the same hard drive it's installed on (at least that's what I read; it cancels for some fatal error otherwise).
My concern is that because I keep my .iso files on another (external USB) drive, there might be data loss or bit errors during the transfer. To put it simply, all I do is move over the file to the external USB drive and pray it's as good a copy as the original rip.
I only have this concern because I had issues years ago trying to burn CDs from ripped .wav files, and the sound quality was degraded. I can't tell if this was from the CD material or some data loss in transfers. I've also read that no copy is bit-for-bit perfect and that data errors happen and software tries to correct them, so I just want to get as good a copy as possible.
