I am a GB user for a long time now. There was nothing complicated about it apart from figuring out automation. For instance I want to write automation to a song so that it fades in and out. Is it a real feature in Garageband or I am missing something? Thanks

You can do it automatically by clicking on the “Mix” option in Garageband’s top toolbar. Then click on “Create Volume Fade Out On Main Output.” This will fade out your track automatically without having to do much. However, fade in doesn’t work with the same option.
I tried the fade-out option on my Mac, but didn’t try the fade-in one. Now as I am using windows, I can’t run Garageband so I can’t show you how to fade in automatically. Do you know how to run Garageband on windows?
