I decided to go all the way and burn a disk with imgburn.
times vs nero were a dead heat at 8x

At CDF there is a large consensus that burning software have no influence on quality of the burning.

The only important factor is the combination burner/firmware/media.

Different burning softwares can give different results because of a not perfectly tuned computer (i.e. an heavily fragged disc or a bad config master/slave of devices, etc).

So if you obtain different results with different burning software there is something not optimally performing on your computer.

At least this is the opinion on CDF (ask to rdgrimes)

does that mean you'd switch to easycd creator

No. I'm fine with nero and ImgBurn/Decrypter and also with cd-dvd speed (I use it a lot for scans).

The burning software is only a matter of personal tastes. If you like easycd, then why not?

Many people at CDF have both installed on their computer without problems.
