verify problem?

Hi, first off I want to say thank you for the help this site has already provided. I have been searching here and you guys have been very helpful. My name is r1p as in rip van winkle.

Recently I bought a Sony 810UL and I got the dvd decryptor. I've also read up on the plug ins and have already used the installer (thanks again). Today was my frist back up. I was making a 1:1 backup dvd. I was using verbatim DVD +R DL discs and every went fine, or so I thought.

See... decryptor read the disc and I then proceeded to write to the blank media, everything fine so far. The drive finishes writing and I chose to have it verify the disc. It got to 48% in the verification and said there was a read error.

From what I remember the new plugins fix that right? Does this have something due to the fact it was a 1:1 copy?

I will try playing the disc later on a stand alone, as I have togo to work now. but the computer read the disc fine and started to play the frist chapter. Hmmm... seems fine.

Not sure where you got your firmware from, but it says 1.0d is the latest (yours shows 2.0d, which is indeed that for a UL but your drive is shown as an 810A).

One way I've found that seems to work is to put the disc in your stand alone player and fast forward through the whole thing. If there's a problem, it'll freeze when it gets there. Seems to work ok for me. I'd only bother on the ones that wouldn't verify, like your's.

eh... got some time may just watch it. So if it freezes thats the error? its not going to be some thing small like a skip or somthing?

its seems like the drive's firmware is named funny. but what I got seems to be up to date. Any other tips?

How often does this happen? It read it the original, wrote the copy, but had a problem with verify.

Also think that you should use ImgBurn if you burn ISO files and want to use the verify option. The verify option in DVD Decrypter only checks if it can read the disc.

In ImgBurn it re-reads the burned disc against the original image.

i was always under the impression that ImgBurn was not as good as DVD Decryptor. Is ImgBurn the same as DVD Decryptor, I mean to say can it do all the same functions?

ImgBurn can only burn. But as it is supported/developed by LUK it now have more options/features than the burning part of DVD Decrypter.

I just wanted to clear something up.

DVDD is used to decrypt/rip dvds
DVDD has burning capablities
DVDD is not being updated any more (this somtimes causes problems)

ImgBurn was made to continue burning where DVDD left off
ImgBurn does not rip DVDD

PgcEdit helps DVDD with new encrypting

Well if so heres me question, how do I trouble shoot my problem?

Should I just start with PgcEdit and go from there? If the dvd has sonys' new encryption stuff well that will fix it. But...DVDD should have had a problem when doing the intial read. This leads me to believe that it was a writing problem it which case ImgBurn will help. Any tips?

I did watch the dvd and got a read error halfway through it.

Also is there a guide in how to make a 1:1 using DVDD then ImgBurn?

to keep you guys posted went through the PgcEdit thing, it went through the phases and said that the dvd was not ARccOS protected that it was a I/O error.

okay it seems if you burn DL you need a program that "respects the position of the layer break"

first problem - dvdd verify issue

In responce to the PgcEdit method I get past step 6 and 7 the Layer break part was supposed to pop up. It didn't the ImgTool Classic did, asking for the source and dest. folders, but I don't know how to work the ImgTool Classic and so I got lost.

If PgcEdit did not ask you to install ImgBurn and mkisofs, then you already have them installed. It's a one-time setup. Just grab mkisofs.exe from www.coujo.com and point PgcEdit to it. Same for ImgBurn. You will never need setup again.

And slow the burn to 2.4X

well just so everything is covered

in step one it say open the folder containing the dvd files this is the one I create from dvdd? But what mode? File? IFO? ISO?
