have you tried to burn at the reccomended speeds?

    Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x, 12x, 16x
try at 8x, hope you don't have an old power supply?

I've used 4x with DVD Decrypter, I've had successfull burns and unsucessfull burns that way (haven't we all). I'll try imgburn @ 8x and see what happens.

On DVD Decrypter I did see something about the power being interupted or something to that extent. If the problem is an old power supply is that something that can be easily fixed, as easy as installing the DVD drive for example?

This PC is a hand me down, it's a Dell Deminsion 2350.

looks like you are trying to burn in pio mode

or you got a batch of bad disks?

          or your burner's dead/dying?

I baought my burner on 6-14-06, it's only a couple of months old, It has the latest firmware but maybe it's a lemon haha.

My drive is a DVD+/-RW NEC ND-3550A and I am stillusing a disc pack of 50 that I did get on a deal with the burner which I am hoping is the issue.
            The disc are DVD+R RIDATA|DRD+4716-RDSM50

            PIO Mode?

That would have been a nice easy fix, but it looks like my IDE's are running in UMDA5 and UMDA2.

I hope it's bad disc and not something more troublesome.
Thx for the link by the way.

you must have had a corrupt firmware to startout with, that was a major
mid(common) and nec should have burned it fine with 1.05.

Media is reliable, PI/PO gives results around 30-40 (PI). Not the top of the line stuff, but better than the CMC I had which gives about 100-150 (PI) on the ND-3550A at 4x (media from previous 4x burner, burning this media on the 3550 at 4x still gives same results).

                      Additional information:

                      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Burnt with NEC ND-3550A at 16x using firmware 1.05.
                      Burning reliability is Good.
                      PC reliability is Good.
                      DVD reliability is Good.

                      Media text is Ridata 16x.
Media package type is Cake Box. Number of discs 25.
Works fine on Philips DVP 642
