No, the disc will not play. I will update the firmware. I have tried closing the disc manually, but it doesn't do anything. This happened to me last time I did a DL, but last time I was able to close the disc manually. I don't know what to do now.

Yeah, your firmware isn't years outa date and your blanks are top class.

That error is usually indicate a firmware update is needed. Maybe LUK can help. Keep monitoring the thread - he comes in pretty much daily to check out what's up.

I still have not been able to finalise the disc. It plays fine on my computer, but when I put it in either of my DVD players it does not recognize the disc. My players are not that old, one is a JVC about 2 years old and the other is a Pioneer less than a year old. Any ideas? Thanks, skyzer.

Try closing it manually via the Tools -> Drive -> Close methods.

Track, Session, Disc (in that order - some may fail).

I get an I/O error when I try to close the track and don't get any response when I try to close the session or disc.

You can see in the log that it failed to finalise, what should I do differently to correct this problem? Or hopefully this disc can be saved. This has happened other times too. I can post those logs if you need them. Thanks for your help.

I'd say you've got a duff disk or dirve, sadly. Try to close it in another drive to see if that is the issue.

If you DON'T get an error, that's a sign of it working.

When you've done the close track/session/disc stuff, copy + paste what it says in the info box on the right.

That's right, you're not supposed to get any messages EXCEPT on failure.

Your info there says the disc is complete - so it has been closed / finalised properly.

Why does finalising take so long sometimes? I just backed up "Ice Age: The Meltdown" tonight and it took 3 minutes, 37 seconds to finalise the disc. I know this isn't that long considering the total process for a DL disc at 2.4x, but just wondering. Thank you.

It can have to do with the split between L0 and L1. If there's a high percentage of L0, then L1 has a lot more empty space. Typically burning apps make L1=L0 by writing sectors full of zeros during the finalisation process.

Also, if your disk is not full, it can take longer for the same reason.
