call me dumb, I dont understand Image Burn

I did read Cynthias great (as always) helpful guide but Im confused.

If I have the usual set of files like from DVD Shrink/DVDFab......ie. video TS....etc.....Ifo/bup.....etc

Can these be burned to a backup disc similar to Nero does.
My Nero wont play on Vista............

    so essentially my question is:

if I burn the video TS etc files to a disc with ImagBurn.....will the backup play on my DVD player?

    thank you ALL

You might want to give this a Burn automatically with ImgBurn from DVD Shrink
This version will allow you to Burn from Shrink.

If you want to burn Video files, you would use Biuld mode in ImgBurn.

I will see if I can find the guide for that and add to this post.

    Hope this helps.

And if you do the process properly YES they will play on your DVD player.

Edit: Here is a really good guide for using Build Mode. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1779

    Hope this helps.

        hi
        thank you for your help.

so if I use the build mode of image burn with the usual files (bups, ifos, Video TS-- etc) then this will make a playable DVD on a stand alone player?
        thank u.

              boo99,

              To keep things simple...

As ratboy suggested - you might want to give this a try - http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=63869

I do it in a similar way; why bother using "build" mode? Just run your backup thru shrink, save as an ISO, & imgburn will burn that ISO, piece of cake.

Actually, I burn 4 + ISO's at a time using the queue feature of imgburn, but that's a story for another day...

give it a try the simple way...

This will cover making a Single Layer ISO on your Hard Drive. Firstly make sure your Vob, Ifo and Bup files are in a folder called VIDEO_TS Next, open ImgBurn in Build Mode (Click 'Mode' -> 'Build') and switch the Output Mode to Image File (Click 'Output' -> 'Image File'). Click the 'Browse...

                did you follow this guide?

otherwise if your files were not in a video_ts folder you are asked a question
should it be considered one, look at the dvd's you burned?

is there a video folder and audio one?

thank you and all always for your help and input!

hi, yes i remember that question and I said No cause all i had were the bups/ifo/ts usual files....
is that an imp. question to the burning results?

IE....I had a backup of Poseidon.
In c drive was file Poseidon.....then open that up and theres all the usual files as I said......NO separate Video TS or Audio TS at all.

                    Does this matter?

                    thnx.

Also -- What is the advantage or disadvanage of using the ISO image as opposed to the usual burning method with Nero (which I lost and doesnt work in my vista-----hence this original question)

                    thank u.

You might want to give this a Burn automatically with ImgBurn from DVD Shrink This version will allow you to Burn from Shrink with ImgBurn automatically just like when you had Nero.

That is why I posted it.

This is the easiest way to do it, when you hit backup in Shrink, pick iso and burn with ImgBurn, have a dvd in drive and let it burn.

yes, very important, and you answered it wrong

I do my movies the same way by naming the folder and just having the files inside

If I answer it no--- wouldnt it create the Video_TS folder for me?
Still dont know why this folder is needed.

In Shrink I never used that folder.......just the files in Nero.

Guess Image burn needs that folder for some reason.

Anways I find the questions kinda confusing so I will either create my own folder (Video_TS) and paste files to it or....

Just have Shrink make ISO and burn that in Image Burn as someone suggested here
                          thnx for replies.

                            very simple, just answer yes

or set imgburn to not ask and make the vid-ts folder for you

                            settings
