    Please help.

not a good combination, new sata burner, vista, funky drivers and then use crap media, guess we'll never get to the bottom of this

NightTran, I didn't realize I had it set for that, I will try slowing it down thanks.

Dialysis1 - People keep telling me Memorex is just as good as Verbatim. I guess they were wrong.

Chewy - This is my only PC and it can't run XP. I don't like Vista any better than anyone else but I'm stuck with it. The drivers are what works. If anyone knows of better drivers I'd be happy to use them. The bashing just isn't necessary.

I found a link that discusses this issue here.

Basically they're saying a power calibration error is caused by the inability of a DVD-RW drive to use a DVD-R or DVD-RW disk. I'd side with poor media. Those Daxon-AZ3 are rated as 2nd-class media which are better than CMC Mags but not as good as TY and Verbs.

Lower your speed to 4X and see if that makes a difference. If you know someone with blank Verbs or TY's get one and try that media. Have you had successful burns with your Vista Home setup in the past?

Usually a search on the errors will give you the answer such as Power Calibration Area Error. Some Nero's errors can be found here.

the one thing that you can control is the media used, hopefully any driver problem will be addressed by the manufacturer

Cambion - yeah, I had a spindle of 100 and I'm somewhere in the last 20 discs. I've never had an error before.

                    Everyone else-
I cleaned the drive, it wasn't due for a couple discs yet, but I did it anyway. Then I burned at 4x and it succeeded beautifully. Then I tried 8x saved 8 min. and had a successful burn. Then just for kicks I went back to MAX speed, burned fine and saved another 5 min. I've set it back to 4x since the media could be better and I'll stick with it until I get through these discs. Then I'm going to search for better media. I've read up on a few additional sites now and poor media seems to be the only explanation for this error. I do think in my case though I must have just had a dirty lens because I've never had trouble with these discs before and the rest of them are working fine with no errors. But I promise after I finish this spindle, I won't buy them again.

sounds like your new drive picked up some dust, lint or dirt off the blanks?

4x burn should take 15 min
                      8x burn 8-9 min
                      16x burn 6 min

this should be scuzzi for sata drives or ata for ide emulation

the raid would seem to indicate a misconfigured bios or driver install

since I am not using vista/sata burners and didn't write imgburn or load the computers showing these errors that's about as good a guess as I can make
