need help with imgburn

Hi i have went through 5 different dvd players(all different makes) with all the same problems and am now wondering if i could be using the wrong settings in imgburn

the problem is every dvd or xvid file i play it skips about 10 to 15 seconds at leat once every movie

when i make the image i select ISO9660 + UDF and i noticed in NERO i was always using ISO9660 + Joilet

Which one am i supossed to use and could this cause the skipping problem

It verified OK. Can you do a Nero CD/DVD Speed transfer test? I am wondering if you getting the occassional unreadable sector. The discs are very good usually. I wonder if the transfer test will show an area with unreadable sectors.

Just post the results whether it is all green or not.

I would bring my burn speed up to 8X...Firmware looks to be current and media should be good, so now it may be a compression issue. You aren't using paper adhesive labels are you?

Have you tried different media? or do you have the same problem with any and all media? That drive seems to like some, hate others.

The file system isn't the problem.

Your players can obviously read whatever you're using or they wouldn't play full stop!

If they really are all skipping, it's either a case of them not liking the files you're having them play, or it's your drive producing low quality burns - making the disc hard to read - hence the slowdowns / skips / jumps.

Sorry must have missed this one, and I don't see where anyone else has addressed the question...

The "slower is better" philosophy has become a little outdated...with the introduction of quality drives using good firmware and you throw some quality media in the mix there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to burn at the recommended speed of the media with equal or better results. In some cases you will get worse results burning too slow...I would say 4X would be too slow.

I also use TY discs

The thing that bothers me is i have 2 older cheap KOSS players that play these same discs with no problems

I think it might be time to get a new drive and its good to know i can actually burn at higher speeds

That might be a good idea.

Those HP burners seem to have a lot of problems. With good burners being so cheap, it is money well spent IMO.
