    Suddenly, Coasters

No problems with Image Burn or Nero -- now - all I get are coasters. One day all was well - next day nothing good.
Following is the Image Burn log file. I have not installed any software nor changed any hardware (using Plextor 716A). I use Verbatim DVD-R up to 16X. Thanks for any help offered.

Tried slower speeds, shutting down to clear RAM, plenty of hard drive space for temp files, etc, ran malware and virus checkers, et.c, to no avail. Anyone know what it means that Image Burn couldn't burn to certain sectors?

In addition to Chewy's suggestions, also update your firmware, v1.11 is the latest.

          You can get it from:

What I'd do here is test the drive with some Verbatim DVD+R's, and if it still won't burn anything, assume the writer has died - believe me, it's not unheard of! (My 716 died after a year and I had it RMA'd)

btw, it might be an idea to update ImgBurn... you're a long way behind!

I also updated the Plextor firmware, upgraded Image Burn, ran anti virus, anti malware and spyware. I then tried burning an image and the following error came up:
Failed to reserve track reason: command sequence error.
The Plextor does read a DVD fine (tried two different ones)
Again, any suggestions are appreciated. Also, I want to repeat I have not installed any new hardware or software.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say those filters are the problem

                  command sequence error
remove everything but redbook, imapi and elby

musicmatch will come back next time you use it

                  reboot

                  test again

Blimey, I've never seen a filter list that long before!

As chewy said, remove the following...

                    Upper Class Filter: GEARAspiWDM
                    Upper Class Filter: pwd_2k
                    Upper Class Filter: cdralw2k
                    Lower Class Filter: CDR4_XP
                    Lower Class Filter: SSCDBHK5
                    Lower Class Filter: MXLW2K
                    Lower Class Filter: DRVMCDB
                    Lower Class Filter: PXHELP20
                    Lower Class Filter: AFS2K

You could probably leave GEARAspiWDM and pxhelp20, they're very common. GEARAspiWDM is installed with iTunes I believe (amongst other things). pxhelp20 gets installed with loads of stuff!

You should update whatever 'Elby' program it is that you're using. That driver is very old now. They're up to v5 or something!

Posting a full burn log would be a good start.
