    report of try "Layer Jump Recording" (-R/DL)

    I tryed "Layer Jump Recording" (-R/DL).
    I know -R/DL in not recommended, it's just from technical curiousy.

    Example
    I tryed 2 example.
    Here is the info of DVDDecrypter about sectors.

    (A)L0-L1>=14,080 (I thought it will succeed)
    Sectors: 3,803,016
    Layer 0 Sectors: 1,914,000 (50.33%)
    Layer 1 Sectors: 1,889,016 (49.67%)
    L0-L1: 24,984

    (B)L0-L1<14,080 (I thought it will cause error)
    Sectors: 4,027,709
    Layer 0 Sectors: 2,013,856 (50%)
    Layer 1 Sectors: 2,013,853 (50%)
    L0-L1: 3
    ------------------------------------------------

    Burning
    Procedure is 1) ripping by ISO mode of DVDDecryper, 2) burning its MDS by Imgbun.

    (A)It was secceeded.
    Below is from log of ImgBurn.

    *Adress of L1 seems not to be continuous from L0 but absolute adress of -R/DL.
    Blank sector of outer L0 is 2092896-(1913999+1)=178896,
    Start adress L1 is 2092896+178896=2271792, it is matched with log.

    (B)It was failured with error.
    Below is from log of ImgBurn.

    *Adress of L1 seems not to be continuous from L0 but absolute adress of -R/DL like (A).
    Blank sector of outer L0 is 2092896-(2013855+1)=79040,
    Start adress L1 is 2092896+79040=2171936, it is matched with log.
    *But it seems to be failured when burnin adress over 4171712 which is capacity of -R/DL.
    -R/DL seems to need L0-L1=14,080 (=-R/DL's capacity; 2,092,896-2,078,816).

    Sector of burned DVD
    I confirmed by info of DVDDecrypter and ImgBurn.

    Layer 0 Sectors: 2,092,896 (50.3%)
    Layer 1 Sectors: 2,067,912 (49.7%)
    L0-L1: 24,984

    *L0 seems to be burned to last adress of L0, and L1 to adress which is shown in log of ImgBurn. L0-L1 is same as ripped original.

    Layer 0 Sectors: 2,092,896 (50.17%)
    Layer 1 Sectors: 2,078,816 (49.83%)
    L0-L1: 14,080

    *L0 seems to be burned to last adress of L0, and L1 to adress of capacity of -R/DL.

    Burned DVD was not obviously burned to most outer.
    Layer Jump Recording seems to be succeeded to have Layer-Br. same as original like +R/DL.

    Replaying
    I confirmed with PC and DVD player.

    The part corresponding to L0 seems to be no problem. It was replayed crrectly.
    But the part corresponding to L1 had the problem. It repayed other part, or return to menu, or stop.
    It is supposed because DVD's adress is absolute of -R/DL, so mismatched with IFO's adress.

    Layer Jump Recording is just a big waste of time. If you're ever going to use it then the image would need to have been built for it, you can't just burn any old ISO/MDS.

    The layer break stuff you're looking at is nothing to do with layer jump recording, it's just the fixed DVD-R DL layer break. There are additional commands a player would need to issue to know where the layer jump point is when LJR has been used - and as you've spotted, the LBA is not continuous and so totally messes up the file system (unless as mentioned earlier, you've an image designed for LJR).

    It's actually been removed from the next version because it's so bad and has no 'real world' use.

    If you'd have asked about it before you tried it, I could have saved you from wasting 2 DVD-R DL

      Don't worry. I don't think wast of time and disc, I enjoyed the try, I'm satisfied because I know the result by my eyes.
      And I can understand more by your explanation. (need to built image for it, additional commands for player)
