    can no-longer burn with Imgburn

So I wanted to take a bunch of stills and create a slide show that I could put on a DVD and play in a stand alone player.
I opened up MS Movie Maker got them all together added a tune and some titles, processed and came up with a .WMV file. Read some posts then installed DVD Flick, made an .ISO file burnt it to disc worked great.

Would not play on 1 of my stand alones. It was in PAL mode i guess.

Started a new project, scanned a bunch of old pictures, ran 'em thru movie maker, thru dvd flick, tried to burn Error.

Took another dvd I had burnt before made an ISO tried to burn Error.
opened dvddecrypter burnt the disc fine.
Burnt the .ISO made with dvd flick fine.

    ran the imgburn setup again
    no luck

    didn't save the log

    Any Ideas?

I see, here it is. Looks like the only thing re-installing did was reset the write speed to Max which I didn't catch before the last attempt.

        Operation Failed! - Duration: 00:00:53
burn speed didn't have anything to do with it

crappy media coupled with old worn out burner looks more likely if I had to guess

WORN OUT? But the little old lady I got it from said she only used it once a week on Sunday to burn a backup of the library of congress!

How many burns should I expect to get out of a burner?
Is there any program that will test the burner?

I did a scandisc with nero cd-dvd-speed on the last burn came back 100% green.

i wouldn't even give memorex a thought. go w/the recommended media in the forum. i use sony which has a b grade here and has been very good to me.

believe it or not maxell has been very good also. both dvd-r 16x.

i tied building and burning some photos w/imgburn. it'll do it, but like i said before, what goes in is what comes out. it played on my magnavox, but nothing on my toshiba, or anyone else's stand alone which i gave the disc to.

burners last pretty long, unless you're really burning the house down. a scan disc pretty much gives you a general idea as to the quality of the burn. my lg produced green almost always. but as chewy suggested, they're such great readers that they'll produce those results.

again media compatibility and burners. keep that in mind.
              SAMSUNG SH-S203B, SAMSUNG SH-S223F,

Take the suggestions and follow the directions. The results will speak for themselves.
