    More Calls to Kill DRM

Former music industry executive Jay Samit called on the media companies Wednesday to do away with digital rights management software that encrypts content. His remarks came during panel discussions at the Digital Hollywood conference in Santa Monica.

“DRM has not done anything to stop piracy,” said Mr. Samit, who held senior positions at EMI, Sony and Universal and suggested his current position as an independent consultant allowed him to speak his mind more freely than most media executives. “DRM only penalizes the paying customer.”

Amen! A few more beams of light and we might see some sunshine.

Yeah, I agree... I just remove any DRM I get, and it annoys me that I have to!

And I read that iTunes Plus has perks, that it secretly hides your name and email inside the file so they can catch you if you send it to anyone... anyone heard about that?
