Around March next year, Sony expects to introduce a digital TV tuner add-on, which would turn the console into a programmable TV recorder, Warwick Light, head of marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand, told New Zealand's The Press this week.
He said PS3 was not just a games machine, but a "future-proof super computer".

I don't see much point in having this devices. The 60/80 GB HDD is nowhere near big enough to store TV recording, especially in HD, and there is no DVD recorder drive to burn the TV shows to disc. I'd much rather spend $200 and just buy a proper DVD/HDD recorder, rather than a PS3 + however much the DTV add-on will cost.
