Netflix hasn’t ruled out raising prices on high-definition rentals if a resolution to the format war between Sony’s Blu-ray Disc and the Toshiba-led HD DVD drives costs up, according to chief financial officer Barry McCarthy.

Found this news item on Doom9. Seems to suggest HD rental prices will go up once a winner is decided. Format war => discounts => cheaper prices. A little selfish here, but As someone who has both formats, I hope the format war continues a little big longer.
