    Top 10:

Ford v Ferrari was the top-selling new release, and the overall top seller, for the week ending February 15, 2020.

Interestingly, this was the only new release in the top 20, but 'Ford v Ferrari' was good enough to help Blu-ray revenue rise above $20 million after last week's low.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: 'Ford v Ferrari' did get a UHD release. 7 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
    1. Ford v Ferrari+
    2. Joker+
    3. Doctor Sleep+
    4. Terminator: Dark Fate+
    5. Parasite
    6. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil+
    7. Playing With Fire
    8. Zombieland: Double Tap+
    9. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood+
    10. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw+

Blu-ray, Ultra HD Blu-ray Sales Share:

BD sales share for a title is the percentage of disc packages sold for this movie that contained the Blu-ray edition of the film (including combos, and Ultra HD editions). So a BD sales share of 60% indicates that 60% of disc packages sold for this particular film contained the Blu-ray edition for this film, and so anything over 50% means that the Blu-ray version of the film was more popular than the DVD version.

'Ford v Ferrari' had a BD sales share of 68.45%, with a quite impressive UHD sales share of 23.93%.

Another "all red" week, but 'Ford v Ferrari' was never going to match up to 'Bohemian Rhapsody', which was released the same week last year.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $11.48m (down 32.2%), with unit sales down 32.1%.

DVD sales decreased by $11.05m (down 28.2%), with unit sales down 31.6%.

    Top 10:

Doctor Sleep was this week's top-selling new release on Blu-ray and DVD, but it failed to prevent Blu-ray revenue from falling below $20 million for the first time since the first week of January.

The sequel to 'The Shining' was one of five new releases in the top 20 this week. The next best selling new release was Playing With Fire (trailer) in 3rd place.

In 9th was Last Christmas, while 10th spot was also occupied by another new release, The Good Liar (trailer).

Arctic Dogs (trailer) got a 17th place finish.

Blu-ray and DVD sales remain largely unchanged despite the release of four titles in the top 20, including the newly crowned Academy Awards Best Picture winner, Parasite.

'Parasite' itself was not the best selling new release of the week though (it came 5th), that honor fell to Terminator: Dark Fate, finishing easily in first place above last week's number one 'Zombieland: Double Tap'.

Harriet was in 7th place, while Motherless Brooklyn was in 13th.

    Top 10:

The first week of 2020 has been a quiet one from a Blu-ray and DVD sales perspective, as is the case every start of a new year, but with Blu-ray sales slipping below $20 million and Blu-ray market share almost dropping below 40%, it's definitely one of the quietest January weeks on record (see below for a comparison with the same week from a year ago).

Not a single new release was present in the top 20 again, which might account for some of the below-par results.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: 8 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):

Another all red week. It seems to suggest that Blu-ray and DVD sales have slowed down this year compared to the last one. While this may be true, the fact that there were actually two new releases in the top 10, 'Night School' and 'Bad Times at the El Royale', may have something to do with it too.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $7.9m (down 29.5%), with unit sales down 30.2%.

    Top 10:

The last full week of 2019 yielded no new releases in the top 20, but sales were still relatively strong thanks to some pre-Christmas shopping and post-Christmas bargain hunting. In fact, the make up of the top 10 is exactly the same as last week, with the order only slightly different.

Compared to the same week last year, DVD sales dropped slightly, but Blu-ray sales had a bigger drop. This seems to a trend, especially for the second half of the year and suggests something a little bit more concerning - that DVD sales have largely bottomed out, but Blu-ray sales have just started the slide.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: 8 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

Another all red week, as this year's holiday sales appear to lag last year's. This week's data does include one less holiday shopping day than last year's data, which included the 22nd (this week's data only goes to the 21st).

    Top 10:

There were five new releases in the top 10, and the holiday sales period all helped to bring Blu-ray revenue over $50 million again.

The best-selling of the new releases was Rambo: Last Blood, narrowly outselling Downton Abbey: The Motion Picture, which incidentally was the top seller on DVD ahead of 'Rambo'.

Abominable got 3rd, while Ad Astra was in 6th place.

And finally in 8th was Overcomer.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: 'Rambo: Last Blood', 'Abominable' and 'Ad Astra' all had UHD editions. 8 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
    1. Rambo: Last Blood+
    2. Downton Abbey: The Motion Picture
    3. Abominable+
    4. It: Chapter Two+
    5. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood+
    6. Ad Astra+
    7. Toy Story 4+
    8. Overcomer
    9. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw+
    10. The Lion King+

'Ad Astra' had the best BD sales share out of this week's new releases, with 63.57%. It was ahead of 'Rambo: Last Blood' with 57.84% and 'Abominable' with 52%.

'Downton Abbey: The Motion Picture' got 43% while 'Overcomer' was at 38%.

'Abominable' also had a 3D edition, but it only accounted for 0.25% of all sales for this movie.

For the 4K editions, 'Ad Astra' once again led the way with a UHD sales share of 18.43%. 'Rambo: Last Blood' got 13.09% and 'Abominable' got 4%.

Another all red week, as this year's holiday sales appear to lag last year's. This week's data does include one less holiday shopping day than last year's data, which included the 22nd (this week's data only goes to the 21st).

Blu-ray sales decreased by $25.05m (down 31.5%), with unit sales down 30.4%.

DVD sales decreased by $15.14m (down 17.9%), with unit sales down 22.6%.

    Blu-ray vs DVD: 43.15% vs 56.85%

    Top 10:

Blu-ray and DVD revenue continued to drop from the highs set by Black Friday despite the release of three titles that did quite well at the box office for their respective genres.

It: Chapter Two was the week's top-selling new release and overall top-seller, although it was only slightly ahead of the number two top-seller (and new release also), Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The Best Buy 4K exclusive 'It: 2-Film Collection' also sold enough copies to get into the top 20, at 14th place.

The only other new release in the top 20 was Hustlers, getting a 7th place finish.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Amazingly, all four new releases in the top 20 were available on 4K (or exclusively on 4K). Every single title in this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
    1. It: Chapter Two+

Out of this week's new releases, it was actually 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' that had the best BD sales share, with 72.38%. 'It: Chapter Two' got 62.59%, while 'Hustlers' managed to get 52.15%.

For the 4K editions, 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' was again on top with an amazing UHD sales share of 21.34% (more than 1 in 5 people opted for the 4K edition over the standard Blu-ray or DVD editions!), followed by 'It: Chapter Two' with 14.72% and 'Hustlers' with 7.31%.

Despite the three relatively big releases this week, it was another "all red" week in which all the metrics below were worse off than compared to the same week a year ago (which incidentally was the week 'The Equalizer 2', 'Smallfoot' and 'Peppermint' were released, hardly huge sellers, to be honest).

A very quiet week for new releases, but a relatively big selling week because it's the Cyber Monday sales week.

The one and only new release in the top 20 actually did well on Blu-ray, getting to the top of the Blu-ray sales chart quite easily. Game of Thrones: The Complete Eighth Season was that new release.

Comparing this Cyber Monday with the last one - Blu-ray sales dropped slightly ($47m to $43m), while DVD sales remained largely steady ($57m to $56m). Unit sales for both Blu-ray and DVD were actually up, suggesting that discounting is what caused the overall revenue drop.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: 'Game of Thrones: The Complete Eighth Season' was available on 4K, the first for a GoT season release I think. 9 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):

Not a big week for new releases, but the big numbers you see above aren't typos - the Black Friday sales are back!

As usual for Black Friday sales, the revenue figures become one of the best, outside of the holiday sales period.

And usually, there won't be any significant new releases, but Lionsgate didn't get the memo and they've released Angel Has Fallen, which was lucky enough to finish in 11th place.

Most of the top 10 were occupied by recent releases or discounted titles, with the likes of Aquaman (jumped from 33rd last week to 3rd place this week due to discounting), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (23rd to 5th), The Secret Life of Pets 2 (26th to 6th), Shazam! (38th to 8th), and Pokémon Detective Pikachu (28th to 10th).

More important than any particular new release this week is how well this Black Friday compared to the previous ones. Blu-ray revenue was $79.35 million this Black Friday compared to $104.77 million for the last one (down 24.3%). While last year was better than the year before, very likely due to many 4K discs being discounted for the first time, this year obviously was not as good a year.

DVD sales also dropped, but by a smaller margin, from $116.80 million last year to $96.89 million this year (down 17%).

Total revenue was down $45.33 million, or 20.5%. Worse than the $22 million fall last year and the $36 million fall a year before.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: 'Angel Has Fallen' was available on UHD, as were most of the discounted titles in the top 10. In fact, every single title in this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
    1. Spider-Man: Far From Home+

    5. Godzilla: King of the Monsters+

Another unfair comparison, but in favor of this week, as we're comparing a Black Friday week with the quieter Cyber Monday week from last year.

Blu-ray sales increased by $32.26m (up 68.5%), with unit sales up 142.7%.

DVD sales increased by $39.01m (up 67.4%), with unit sales up 127.4%.

    Top 10:

Blu-ray revenue fell all the way below $20 million due to the lack of new releases, and perhaps the fact that this was a week before Black Friday, meaning many people will wait another week to buy something discounted.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold was the best selling new release for the week, coming in at second, but it was the only new release in the top 10.

You have to go all the way to 16th place for the next, and only other new release, Blinded by the Light.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Neither of the two releases this week were available on UHD. 7 out of this week's top 10 had a UHD edition.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):

The big number above may seem weird, but that's because this time last year was the much fabled Black Friday sales week, which doesn't happen this year until next week. Suffice to say, the comparison below isn't really fair!

Blu-ray sales decreased by $86.54m (down 82.6%), with unit sales down 90.6%.

Blu-ray sales dropped compared to the previous week despite the release of The Angry Birds Movie 2. The animated sequel managed to only get a 3rd place finish on the Blu-ray top 10, behind 'Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw' and 'The Lion King'.

4th place was also a new release, Good Boys.

In 6th place was The Big Bang Theory: The Twelfth and Final Season while Star Trek: Discovery - Season Two was in 7th.

Outside the top 10, The Peanut Butter Falcon was in 12th while 47 Meters Down: Uncaged finished in 16th.

So without any movies that were big box office draws being released this week, naturally, Blu-ray revenue dropped.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Only 'The Angry Birds Movie 2' was made available on UHD. 7 out of this week's top 10 had a UHD edition.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw easily topped the Blu-ray sales chart for the week, easily overcoming the number one of recent weeks, 'The Lion King'.

The next new release was in 4th place, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

The Art of Racing in the Rain in 8th was the next new release.

Outside of the top 10, we have The Kitchen in 11th, Yellowstone: Season 2 in 14th and Good Omens in 15th.

So quite a few releases, but the one big one was driving most of the sales, with sales increasing slightly over the past week.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Both 'Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw' and 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark' were available on UHD. 9 out of this week's top 10 had a UHD edition.
