    Top 20:

Another quiet week in which we only have two new releases in the top 20s.

The 30th anniversary 4K and 4K SteelBook re-release of Se7en was the top-seller for the week, on both the combined Blu-ray and 4K chart and also the 4K only chart.

The only other release was the Blu-ray edition of Armor in 16th.

This week's 4K Ultra HD report: 9 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

The complete Blu-ray top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
    1. *Se7en+
    2. The Wild Robot+
    3. Twisters+
    4. Alien: Romulus+

Blu-ray, Ultra HD Blu-ray Sales Share:

The BD sales share is the percentage of disc packages sold for that contained the titles's Blu-ray edition (including combos, and Ultra HD editions) for a particular title. So a BD sales share of 60% indicates that 60% of disc packages sold for this particular film contained the Blu-ray edition for this film, and so anything over 50% means that the Blu-ray version of the film was more popular than the DVD version.

Neither of the two new releases were made available on new multi-platform discs, so there's nothing to report in terms of BD or 4K sales share.

      Top 20:

Still pretty quiet, but we have four new releases compared to last week's two, so things are starting to get going again.

The Arrow 4K and Blu-ray limited editions of Inglourious Basterds was the best-selling new release, coming in at 3rd on both the combined 4K/Blu-ray chart, as well as the 4K only chart.

The Amazon Exclusive 4K SteelBook release of Snowpiercer was 6th (second on the 4K chart), and in 18th, the 4K edition of Once Upon a Time in the West was 18th (11th on the 4K chart).

And finally on the 4K only chart, the 4K edition of Chinatown was 16th.

        Top 20:

Finally, the new releases come flooding back in. And as a result, 4K and Blu-ray market share rose to a recent high.

New release Venom: The Last Dance was the top-seller for the week, on both the combined 4K and Blu-ray chart as well as the 4K only chart. The Venom 3-movie collection was also in the top 10, in 7th (while 4K edition was available, it was the expensive limited edition set with an included action figure - it did not rank in the 4K top 20).

Oscar winning The Substance was in a distant second place (selling less than a third as many copies as "Venom: The Last Dance") - it was third on the 4K chart.

Smile 2 was in third place (second on the 4K chart), and typical of recent Paramount releases, it was only available as a 4K, a 4K SteelBook and a DVD edition - no standalone Blu-ray edition again.

The next couple of releases come via Lionsgate and feature both 4K and 4K SteelBook packages. Kill Bill Vol. 1, just ahead of Kill Bill Vol. 2 and Jackie Brown, and they were 4th, 5th, and 6th, respectively, on both charts.

Arrow's release of The Cell on 4K and Blu-ray was 10th (8th on the 4K chart).

Heretic was available on Blu-ray and a 4K edition exclusive to the A24 Shop - it was 14th, and not in the 4K top 20.

Elevation was released on Blu-ray only and was 16th.

This week's 4K Ultra HD report: Only "Elevation" wasn't available on 4K. Every single title out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions!

          Top 20:

Both Blu-ray and 4K UHD sales share dropped back compared to the previous weeks, mainly due to the lack of new releases coming in the week.

The only new release in both the combined 4K and Blu-ray chart as well as the 4K chart was the 4K and Blu-ray Criterion release of Winchester '73 - it was 17th on the combined chart, but didn't rank high enough on the 4K only chart.

A huge release headlines this week, and this has helped to raise Blu-ray and 4K sales share. Wicked absolutely outsold everything else for the week and rightly led the combined Blu-ray and 4K sales chart as well as the 4K only sales chart.

The 4K only release of Twin Peaks: From Z to A was 4th (2nd on the 4K chart), and the 4K only limited edition gift set of Terrifier 3 was 7th (11th on the 4K chart).

Then it's all the way down to 20th for the next new release, the Oscars winning A Real Pain, available on Blu-ray only.

On the 4K only chart, the 4K Criterion edition of Punch-Drunk Love was 20th.

A quieter week in which the top-selling new release sat all the way back in 9th. The Tom and Jerry: The Complete Cinemascope Cartoon Collection on Blu-ray was that title.

In 12th was Sailor Moon Three-Film Collection: 1993-1995, again on Blu-ray only. The first new 4K release in top 10 was 15th, the 4K edition of Vampires - it was 9th on the 4K chart.

All the new releases this week were format exclusive releases, meaning they were only available on 4K or Blu-ray as a single edition. Therefore, there's nothing to report in terms of BD and 4K sales share.

                Top 20:

4K market share rose, Blu-ray market share dropped, as the number of new releases has started to increase.

Nosferatu was the top-selling title for the week, easily outselling the last couple of weeks' top seller, "Wicked". It was on top of both the combined 4K and Blu-ray and 4K only charts.

The 20th anniversary edition of Constantine on 4K was 3rd (second on the 4K chart).

The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim was 4th (3rd on the 4K chart), just above the 4K SteelBook edition of Panic Room in 5th (also 5th on the 4K chart).

The Order was 7th (it wasn't available on 4K).

The 4K SteelBook edition of The Social Network was 8th (6th on the 4K chart), and the 4K restoration of Uncle Buck on 4K and Blu-ray was 10th (7th on the 4K chart).

Outside of the top 10, the Blu-ray release of Summer Rental was 16th.

We still have more new releases on the 4K only chart. The 4K edition of Humanoids From the Deep was 17th, and the Criterion 4K edition of Drugstore Cowboy was 19th.

This week's 4K Ultra HD report: "The Order" and "Summer Rental didn't have 4K editions, everything else had a 4K edition or was a 4K only release. 9 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

                  Top 20:

Both 4K and Blu-ray market share dropped compared to last week, due to the lack of any captivating new releases this week.

The best-selling new release was actually a 4K re-release, the 4K edition of Amadeus - it was 3rd on the combined Blu-ray and 4K chart, and second on the 4K only chart.

Next up was Doctor Who: Sylvester McCoy - Complete Season Two, release on Blu-ray only. It was 9th.

The Amazon exclusive 4K SteelBook release of The Forbidden Kingdom was 11th (6th on the 4K chart).

Also on 4K for the first time was Cruising - 20th on the combined chart, 11th on the 4K chart.

Two more new releases on the 4K only chart. The Wal-Mart exclusive 4K SteelBook edition of The Super Mario Bros. Movie was 14th, and Graveyard Shift was re-released on 4K and Blu-ray, and it was 19th.

This week's 4K Ultra HD report: "Doctor Who: Sylvester McCoy - Complete Season Two" was the only previously mentioned new release that didn't have a 4K edition. 8 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

For 4K sales share, only "Graveyard Shift" was available on both 4K and Blu-ray, but it did not get into the 4K sales share top 20.

                    Top 20:

4K and Blu-ray market share remained relatively steady, despite the availability of a big release. Gladiator II was the best-selling release for the week, easily outselling the recent number one "Wicked". It topped both the combined Blu-ray and 4K chart, as well as the 4K only chart. Only a 4K, 4K SteelBook and a DVD edition was released by Paramount, no standalone Blu-ray edition - this is a combination they've been increasingly happy to use

Third place was also a new release, Red One, and it was 6th on the 4K only chart.

Kraven the Hunter was 4th (the 4K edition didn't sell enough copies to rank in the 4K only chart top 20).

Den of Thieves 2: Pantera was 5th (also 5th on the 4K chart).

The 4K SteelBook release of Akira was 7th (3rd on the 4K chart).

This was it for new releases on both charts.

For 4K sales share, "Gladiator II" was the best, with 52.11% of all editions sold being the 4K edition. "Den of Thieves 2: Pantera" got a 4K sales share of 17.05%. "Red One" only got 9%, which was still better than "Kraven the Hunter", which only had 2%.

So a BD sales share of 60% indicates that 60% of disc packages sold for this particular film contained the Blu-ray edition for this film, and so anything over 50% means that the Blu-ray version of the film was more popular than the DVD version.

Only "All Creatures Great and Small: Season 5" had a DVD edition, and so it was the only one that has a BD sales share - it got 19%.

For 4K sales share, the only title that had both 4K and Blu-ray new releases was "Trick or Treat", which had the 4K sales share of 73.34%.

The combined 4K UHD and Blu-ray market share decreased from 49.2% to 34.5%. The big drop was probably due to this time last year having "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom", "Wish", "The Abyss", "True Lies", "Aliens", "Poor Things" all in the top 10, and this year that being down to a single "Thief".

                        Top 20:

Both Blu-ray and 4K sales share increased thanks to the release of Disney's hit animated sequel, Moana 2, and a large number of other releases. While "Moana 2" was the top-seller on the combined Blu-ray and 4K sales chart, it was only 4th on the 4K only chart.

Godzilla vs. Biollante was made available on 4K and Blu-ray as part of Criterion's release - it was 3rd on the combined chart, but it was top of the 4K only chart.

Wolf Man was 5th (also 5th on the 4K chart), and The Penguin: Season 1 was 6th (also 6th on the 4K chart).

The Last of Us: The Complete First Season was made available as a limited edition 4K SteelBook, and it was 7th (3rd on the 4K chart).

On Blu-ray only was Spy x Family - Code: White, in 11th place.

The Walmart exclusive 4K SteelBook edition of World War Z was 13th (8th on the 4K chart).

Jujutsu Kaisen: Shibuya Incident was available as a Blu-ray and a limited edition Blu-ray set, and it was 14th.

Tulsa King: Season Two was 16th (it wasn't made available on 4K). And finally, Babygirl on Blu-ray and 4K only was 19th (not in the 4K top 20).

And one more 4K release in the 4K only top 20, the 50th anniversary 4K edition of Tommy was 17th.

This week's 4K Ultra HD report: "All Creatures Great and Small: Season 5" wasn't available on 4K. Every single title out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions!

                          Top 20:

Blu-ray and 4K sales share are still riding high, mostly off of recent releases as opposed to this week's new discs. The best-selling new title was the 30th anniversary standard 4K and 4K SteelBook releases of Tommy Boy, in 3rd place (top of the 4K only chart).

Star Trek: Lower Decks - The Final Season on Blu-ray and DVD was the next new release, in 5th. With the final season released, the Blu-ray SteelBook release of Star Trek: Lower Decks - The Complete Series was also made available - it was 7th (a non SteelBook release of the box set is coming in April).

Night Moves arrives on 4K and Blu-ray as a Criterion release - it was 17th (14th on the 4K chart).

There were a few more new releases on the 4K only chart. The 4K release of Night of the Creeps was 15th on the 4K only chart, the 4K only release of Black Sheep was 16th, and the 4K and Blu-ray editions of Oscar winner The Brutalist was 18th.

This week's 4K Ultra HD report: Only the "Lower Decks" releases weren't made available on 4K. 8 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

                              Top 20:

Blu-ray and 4K market share both declined due to the lack of any really compelling new releases for this week.

The 4K limited edition release of The Long Kiss Goodnight was the highest-ranked new release, coming in at 5th (it was on top of the 4K only sales chart).

It was the only new release in the combined Blu-ray and 4K top 20, but there were two more new releases in the 4K top 20 chart.

The 4K Criterion Collection of Some Like It Hot was 16th, while 4K release of Sorority House Massacre was 18th.

This week's 4K Ultra HD report: All three previously mentioned new releases were 4K only releases. 8 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

                              1. Mufasa: The Lion King+

As all three new releases were 4K only releases, there was no BD sales share or 4K sales share to report for these.

                                Top 20:

4K market share rose, Blu-ray's declined, for the week ending 19 April 2025.

The big release of the week was Sonic the Hedgehog 3, easily outselling everything on the Blu-ray and 4K charts.

Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League was second on the combined Blu-ray and 4K chart, but didn't sell enough copies on 4K to get into the 4K top 20.

Heart Eyes was 10th (not available on 4K).

The Blu-ray only release of Star Trek: Lower Decks - The Complete Series, now available as a non SteelBook release, was 12th.

Donovan’s Reef was made available on 4K and Blu-ray, and it was 19th (8th on the 4K chart).

There were a couple of new releases that were only on the 4K only chart.

The Criterion version of Chungking Express, on 4K for the first time and on a new Blu-ray package, was 7th.

Sands of Iwo Jima on 4K and Blu-ray was 11th.

This week's 4K Ultra HD report: "Heart Eyes" and "Star Trek: Lower Decks - The Complete Series" weren't available on 4K. 8 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.
