The French minister of culture has suggested that taxing Google may be the perfect solution to solving the online piracy problem. By taxing Google and other search engines, the money raised could be used to promote legitimate content.
Google expressed concern at this latest development, although still vowed to work with the French government to solve the issue of online piracy.
Is this a good way to combat piracy, or another way for the French government to raise much needed funds? And is this type of "punishing the Yellow Pages for infringements made by the companies listed in the phone book" the fair way to approach this problem?
