Newzbin, the Usenet Indexer sued by Hollywood over pirated content and subsequently closed shop, may be coming back.
A group known as Team R Dogs has plans to resurrect the popular Usenet indexer, with a full time programmers hired, $40,000 invested, it seems that these plans are for real. The Newzbin domain names were sold to a Seychelles-based company, although it's unclear whether this company has any links to Team R Dogs, and if not, what their intentions are for the domain names.
But Team R Dog's mysteriously named Mr White reveals that the new Newzbin will be a straight clone of the old site, with perhaps a redesign. Mr White even hinted at adding Torrent and RapidShare search capabilities into the new website, and boldly claimed that "We'll just do a Pirate Bay on them."
Earlier in the month, the source code for the Newzbin website was leaked, allowing clones of the site to be made.
