The 18 year old admin of the Danish BitTorrent tracker EliteBits has been hit with a legal claim of 1.6 million kroner, or $USD 261,150.
Jonas Laeborg was first visited by members of the Danish anti-piracy group Antipiratgruppen in January, who arrived with lawyers in the early hours to search his home, including his home computer. The case has proceeded to this current state, where Antipiratgruppen is seeking damages claims.
It is lucky then that Laeborg has insurance which will cover legal costs during the trial, and Danish group Piratgruppen has promised to support Laeborg with other costs, including the insurance excess.
Piratgruppen spokesman Troels Møller added "We believe it is extremely important that these cases come to trial, and that you can not just give in to these unreasonable claims, therefore we have paid a sum to cover costs associated with litigation."
